Wild Excellence Films Wins Waterwalker Film Festival Award For Paddleboarding Film 'A Quiet Excitement' Showcasing SW PA Lakes and Creeks

On May 11,
Wild Excellence Films announced their short film-- A Quiet Excitement: A Paddleboarding Journey--  has won the “Social Media/Spreading the Paddling Passion” category in the 2021 Waterwalker Film Festival

The film inspires exploration of paddling destinations in Southwestern Pennsylvania and features Glade Run Lake, Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park, and Connoquenessing Creek

Ian Smith, a certified paddleboarding instructor trainer and owner of SurfSUP Adventures, wrote the script and narrates the film, guiding the viewer to some of his favorite, more secluded spots. Revisiting his one-time passion for fly fishing, Smith says, “What had drawn me to fishing and paddleboarding was the same: the desire to connect to something greater.”

“We were excited to do this film for Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau,” said David Rohm, one of the filmmakers on the project. “The area has some amazing recreational opportunities, and we wanted to showcase them being enjoyed responsibly. Ian is a talented paddleboarder and writer, and it was great to be able to feature both his narration and his paddling skills in these beautiful locations.”
