PA Forestry Assn. Exploring Climate Change Impacts On Penn’s Woods Symposium Presentations Now Available


I
n October, the PA Forestry Association held its 134th Annual Symposium with the theme Exploring Change In Penn’s Woods.  The focus was on the impacts and opportunities presented by climate change for woodland owners.

Presentations included--

-- The Big Picture on Energy, Climate and Penn’s Woods-Challenges and Opportunities - Dr. Richard Alley;

-- Climate Change and Penn’s Woods - What does the Future Hold? Greg Czarnecki, DCNR;

-- Habitat Changes Affecting Ruffed Grouse, American Woodcock and other wildlife - Challenges & Opportunities - Dr. Benjamin Jones, Ruffed Grouse Society;

-- Market opportunities for Woodland Owners - J. Geyer, Hardwoods Development Council, and Carbon Markets - Kevin Yoder, The Nature Conservancy-PA; and

-- Adaptive Management for Penn’s Woods - DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Done and Ellen Schulzabarger, State Forester.
