-- Independence Conservancy Hosted A Walk In Penn's Woods, Beaver County [PaEN]

On October 4, the Independence Conservancy hosted a “Walk in Penn’s Woods – at a Social Distance” at the Rocky Bend Nature Preserve, 247 Raccoon Creek Road, Potter Township, Beaver County.

Participants explored the scenic Raccoon Creek Greenway with its rocky cliffs, wooded hillsides and quiet shorelines.

Highlights included a natural stream bank repair, a grove of giant sassafras trees, and a maturing wetland-meadow teeming with songbirds. Experts will be on hand to answer your questions about wild birds, fish, forestry, nature photography, geology, streams, wetlands, and local history.

Since 2017, the first Sunday in October has been set aside for Pennsylvanians to join hosted walks to learn more about Penn’s Woods and gain easy access to expert forest and wildlife professionals.

“Walk in Penn’s Woods – at a Social Distance” raises awareness about the importance of forests in our lives and the effort that goes into caring for them.
