On June 3 from Noon to 1:00 p.m, Penn State Extension will host a Community Forestry Ordinances webinar to discuss an outline of a street and park tree ordinance and provide an overview of other environmental ordinances available to Pennsylvania municipalities.
Municipal Street and Park Tree Ordinances are allowed by Pennsylvania borough and township codes to provide for the protection, proper planting, and proper maintenance of public trees. They can also be used to manage tree risk and to establish municipal tree commissions.
Other types of municipal ordinances can be used to conserve and protect tree canopy and effect stormwater management and other ecosystem services, such as tree and woodland preservation ordinances.
