The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is reminding the public comments are due on the draft Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan through June 25.
Over the last year, public input has been collected and analyzed relating to the five priority themes for the plan:
-- Health and wellness;
-- Recreation for all;
-- Sustainable systems;
-- Technology; and
-- Funding and economic development
More than 400 people helped to prioritize the action steps, offering 300 suggestions. That feedback helped DCNR make final edits to the plan’s recommendations and action steps.
The Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan is required every five years to help guide state recreation policies, programs, and investments.
The plan is needed to remain eligible for federal grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
The 2020-2024 outdoor recreation plan will be used by state agencies, local governments, and other recreation providers to guide outdoor recreation programs, policies, and projects.
The final draft plan (PDF) may be viewed online, and comments about the plan should be directed to Diane Kripas by email to: dkripas@pa.gov, prior to Thursday, June 25.
