Here's a fun family activity for everyone at home due to COVID-19. Look for and destroy spotted lanternfly eggs!
Penn State Extension has an informative video on how to identify and kill spotted lanternfly egg masses on trees. And get them before they typically hatch in April and May.
Pennsylvania now has 26 counties quarantined due to the spotted lanternfly. If you are in one of those counties, go looking for spotted lanternfly eggs!
The counties include: Allegheny, Beaver, Berks, Blair, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Mifflin, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill and York counties.
Find out more, visit the Department of Agriculture’s Spotted Lanternfly webpage, the Penn State Extension Spotted Lanternfly webpage and the U.S.D.A. Spotted Lanternfly webpage.
