The Penn State Ag Council, comprised of organizations, groups, and businesses that represent a strategic agricultural or related interest in Pennsylvania, recently recognized the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund with a Leadership In Action Award.
This award honors outstanding leaders in the agricultural community in Pennsylvania that demonstrate outstanding communication and advocacy skills; exhibit the highest levels of professionalism, performance, innovation, judgment, and problem-solving skills; encourage personal development, partnerships, collaboration, and respect; and serve as role models, mentors, diplomats, and inspiration.
NFWF’s Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund is dedicated to protecting the bay by helping local communities clean up and restore their polluted rivers and streams.
Working in partnership with government agencies and private corporations, the fund awards $8 million to $12 million per year through two competitive grant programs. These programs benefit the communities, farms, habitats, and wildlife of the Chesapeake Bay region.
Since 1999, the Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund has awarded more than 1,200 grants and leveraged matching resources to support a wide range of conservation projects.
