Brodhead Watershed Assn., Partners Host Oct. 26 Day For Climate Change Advocacy & Awareness In Monroe County

Brodhead Watershed Association, PennFuture and Brodhead Trout Unlimited will co-host  A Day for Environmental Advocacy and Awareness on October 26 at the Brodhead Creek Heritage Center, 1539 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg, just outside Analomink, Monroe County.
The Day will be broken down into 4 parts--
-- 10:00 a.m. to noon: Meeting with your Legislator 101 Workshop (registration required) – Learn how to meet with your local, state, and federal policy makers to discuss conservation and environmental issues including those affecting global warming. We’ll discuss a variety of topics from scheduling appointments, how to dress, preparing for your visit, and follow-up. We’ll break into groups and give you the opportunity to practice some of the skills you learn. Emily Baldauff, Northeast Region campaign manager for PennFuture, will lead this event.
-- Noon to 1:30 p.m.: Clean Car Look-and-Learn – Stop by the Brodhead Creek Heritage Center parking lot to peruse a variety of “clean cars” on display. Switching to an electric or hybrid vehicle is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. Look at the vehicles, learn how they can benefit you and the environment, and bring your questions for their owners.
-- 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.: Letter to the Editor Writing Workshop (registration required) – Take your environmental activism to a new level by learning how to get your message across effectively at this letter writing workshop. No writing experience necessary. Emily Baldauff, Northeast Region campaign manager for PennFuture, will lead this event.
-- 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.: Birds and Climate Walk-and-Talk with Darryl and Jackie Speicher (registration required) – BWA’s Climate Change Speaker Series continues with a birding walk-and-talk around ForEvergreen Nature Preserve, led by Darryl and Jackie Speicher of Pocono Avian Research Center. Learn about the impacts climate change is having on birding populations, migration, and habitat.
