Six Pennsylvania colleges and universities were among the institutions of higher learning recognized for their sustainability efforts in the International 2019 Sustainable Campus Index published by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
Participating institutions were evaluated in 17 different impact areas, including-- Air & Climate, Buildings, Campus Engagement, Coordination & Planning, Curriculum, Diversity & Affordability, Energy, Food & Dining, Grounds, Investment & Finance, Public Engagement, Purchasing, Research, Transportation, Waste, Water and Wellbeing & Work.
In addition, Overall Top Performers were picked for Associate Colleges, Baccalaureate Institutions, Master’s Institutions, Doctoral Institutions and Overall Average Scores.
Each of the institutions submitted a STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System) report-- a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance developed by AASHE with broad participation from the higher education community.
