The Cumberland Conservation Collaborative is inviting municipal representatives and conservation advocates to be part of the conversation at the Municipal Land Preservation Forum on September 10 in Cumberland County.
As one of the fastest growing counties in Pennsylvania, Cumberland County communities face unique challenges reaching the proper balance between development and preservation. In order to maintain a high quality of life, a strategy is needed for achieving that balance.
The Forum agenda includes--
-- Municipal Land Preservation Options: Bill Gladden, Executive Director for French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust & former Director of Chester County’s Open Space Preservation Program
-- Land Preservation Panel Discussion with--
-- Cumberland County Case Study: Silver Spring Township (SST) Open Space Referendum & Land Preservation Program, Vince DiFilippo, County Commissioner & former SST Supervisor Laura Brown, SST Land Preservation Board Chair
-- Municipal Partnerships with Non-Profit Land Trust: Anna Yelk & Ben Mummert, Central PA Conservancy
-- Municipal/County Partnership for Farmland Preservation: Stephanie Williams, Cumberland County Planning Department, Laura Brown, SST Land Preservation Board
The Forum will be held at the South Middleton Township Municipal Building,520 Park Drive in Boiling Springs from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
