DEP’s Agricultural Advisory Board is scheduled to meet June 20 on a series of initiatives including the proposed General Permit for projects of less than 5 acres and a new soil erosion and sediment control manual for agricultural operations.
Nate Crawford from DEP’s Bureau of Clean Water is on the agenda to provide a presentation on a new General Permit for small construction activities under 5 acres in size that would cover many typical projects on farms.
The General Permit is designed to cover projects that now require an individual E&S/NPDES permit saving the landowner time and money.
DEP told the House Environmental Committee May 1 they hope to publish the proposed permit this month for comment.
Jill Whitcomb and Meagan Porta from the Bureau of Clean Water will provide an update on DEP’s Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Manual for Agricultural Operations.
In January, DEP published a draft Manual for public comment which were due in March.
DEP will also provide the Board with an update on setting a water quality standard for manganese.
The meeting will be held at DEP’s Southcentral Regional Office, 909 Elmerton Avenue in Harrisburg starting at 9:30.
