The U.S. House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources will hold a hearing March 28 on Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation: Innovative Approaches and Economic Development Opportunities at 10:00.
One topic of discussion will be H.R. 315 authorizing a Good Samaritan Program to encourage reclamation of abandoned mines by operators, watershed groups and others not connected to the abandoned mine site.
The hearing will feature comments by Eric Cavazza, Director of DEP's Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation and Robert Hughes, Executive Director of the Eastern PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation.
Also featured will be Chris Wood, President & CEO of Trout Unlimited.
The hearing will be webcast live through the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources (Dems) Facebook page.
A hearing was held by this Subcommittee in May of 2017 on similar legislation.
