The Penn State Environment and Natural Resources Institute will host a Water Insights Seminar on March 12 on Implementation and Function of Green Infrastructure: Insight From The Site To The City.
Dr. Lauren McPhillips, Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Agricultural & Biological Engineering, will discuss work in upstate New York at the site level investigating function of different stormwater management strategies including detention basins and roadside ditches.
More specifically, how design elements like hydrologic regime and soil media composition can impact nutrient cycling and water quality benefits.
Moving up in scale, she will describe efforts to understand implementation of stormwater management strategies over time and in space across several U.S. cities.
She will also cover some initial efforts related to planning for and monitoring of stormwater management strategies locally here in Pennsylvania.
Dr. McPhillips presented at a Water Insights Seminar last November on the topic of Resilient Management of Stormwater in Urban Landscapes.
The Seminar will held from Noon to 1:00 in Room 312 of the Ag and Bio Engineering Building on Penn State’s main campus in State College and is available online via Zoom.
