The PA Resources Councils holds the final 5 household chemical, e-waste, hard-to-recycle and drug take back collection events in Allegheny and Beaver Counties in October. They will be held—
-- October 7: Hard-To-Recycle Event: Settlers Cabin Park Wave Pool parking lot, Allegheny County, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Individuals can dispose of cell/home phones, CFL bulbs, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, UPS/servers, Zip drives, etc.), expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens, stereo equipment and video game consoles/DVD players at no cost.
Participants will pay a fee to drop off televisions, computer monitors, printers, alkaline batteries, CDs/DVDs/floppy discs, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances, stereo speakers, tires (with and without rims) and VHS tapes.
-- October 14: Household Chemical Collection Event: Bradys Run Park Recycling Center, Beaver County, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Individuals can drop off automotive fluids, household cleaners, pesticides, paints and other household chemicals for a cost of $3/gallon, some exceptions apply (cash only).
-- October 28: National Drug Take Back Events at 3 locations in Allegheny County: Green Tree Borough Building, 10 W. Manilla Ave., Green Tree; Medical Rescue Team South, 315 Cypress Way, Mt. Lebanon; The Mall at Robinson, Sears parking lot, 100 Robinson Centre Dr., Robinson all from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
PRC is partnering with PA American Water to host three drop-off collection events in Allegheny County.
Nationwide, thousands of collection sites will enable patients, caregivers and pet owners to properly dispose of unwanted prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications at no cost.
