The state Department of Human Services announced at a recent meeting of the LIHEAP Advisory Committee the 2017-18 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding plan will reflect level equal funding.
The Wolf Administration had suggested a 25 percent cut in funding based on cuts proposed by the Trump Administration.
State officials at the meeting indicated it was due to the efforts of several key Congressmen-- especially Charles Dent (R-Lehigh)-- who said the message from Congress is the final federal budget will not reflect the cut in the Trump Administration's request.
The first day Pennsylvanians can start applying for LIHEAP assistance is tentatively set for November 1.
