Lauren Imgrund, DCNR’s Deputy Secretary for Conservation and Technical Services, has been elected at President of the National Association of Outdoor Recreation Liaison Officers.
The organization of state officials working to provide places for outdoor recreation through investment of proceeds from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund in state and local projects.
LWCF funds have played a major role in the establishment and development of Pennsylvania’s state and local parks. There are 71 state parks, 726,554 acres of state forest, and 1,318 local parks that have received LWCF funding. Since the program’s establishment in 1965, total funding to Pennsylvania has exceeded $165 million.
The LWCF is up for Congressional reauthorization and the association will be working to modernize and increase funding for the State and Local Assistance Program.
