The PA Recycling Markets Center and the National Recycling Coalition will host a webinar on December 20 on Environmental Justice Issues for Recycling Facility Development Projects from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.
John G. Waffenschmidt, Vice President for Environmental Science and Community Affairs for Covanta Energy, will be the presenter.
The webinar will discuss the “Science of Inequality” as it relates to environmental justice issues faced by solid waste management and recycling facility projects. The term “Inequality” will be defined and the “Math” that quantifies the factors that influence it will be addressed.
In July Waffenschmidt was honored by the Chester Environmental Partnership in Delaware County for his work on environmental justice issues associates with the energy-from-waste facility in Chester.
In addition to his work at Covanta, Waffenschmidt also serves on DEP’s Environmental Justice Advisory Board the National Stewardship Action Council Board, and the Product Stewardship Institute Advisory Council.
