New F&M Poll: Clinton 47%, Trump 40%; McGinty 43%, Toomey 38%

A new Franklin & Marshall Poll released Thursday shows Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump 47 percent to 40 percent among likely voters, down from the 49 percent to 38 percent lead she held immediately after the Democratic convention.
An Emerson University Poll Monday had Clinton at 46 percent and Trump at 43 percent and a Monmouth University Poll Tuesday had Clinton at 48 percent and Trump 40 percent.
U.S. Senate Race
In the U.S. Senate race, the F&M Poll has Democrat Katie McGinty with a five-point lead over Republican Senator Pat Toomey 43 percent to 38 percent among likely voters, up from a one-point advantage in late July, although one in five (18%) voters is still undecided. Only one in three (33 percent) registered voters believes Senator Toomey has done a good enough job to deserve re- election.
The Emerson University Poll had Toomey leading McGinty 46 to 39 percent and the Monmouth Poll had McGinty leading Toomey 45 to 41 percent.
President Obama
The F&M Poll also found President Obama’s approval rating dropped slightly to 45 percent.
