The Hershey Company Tuesday announced it has been named again to the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability World and North America Indices.
Hershey is one of only 11 companies from the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Industry in the World Index and ranked in the 91 percentile overall. The company received top scores in health and nutrition, packaging environmental impact, and water related risks categories.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Hershey has been included in the World Index and the fifth year for the North American Index.
The DJSI Indices are regarded as the highest standard for evaluating corporate sustainability based on Environmental, Social, and Governance factors. Hershey’s DJSI ranking puts the company’s sustainability performance among the top in the world.
“Hershey has a vision of ‘sharing goodness with the world’ that is embedded in our belief that company performance is linked to responsible and sustainable operations,” said Michele Buck, Chief Operating Officer at The Hershey Company. “Operating ethically as we strive to deliver strong performance deepens our sense of purpose and benefits our shareholders, employees and the communities in which we live and work.”
Hershey’s global shared social purpose, called Nourishing Minds, is built on the belief that bright futures for children start with basic nutrition so they can focus on their studies rather than their stomachs.
With a goal to nourish one million minds by 2020, the program has become the cornerstone for how Hershey embeds a social focus into how it applies its knowledge and resources to help communities.
Hershey recently issued its latest CSR report – titled “Shared Goodness” – showcasing progress made against a variety of priority issues. Click Here to watch a video on Hershey’s sustainability efforts.
