The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee reported three bills out of Committee at its meeting Tuesday, including bills authorizing a local recycling fee, further allowing the use of alternative septic systems in sewage planning and establishing a private dam financial assurance program. The bills were--
-- Recycling Fee: Senate Bill 1041 (Schwank-D-Berks) amending Act 101 to authorize all local governments to charge a recycling service fee (sponsor summary);
-- Alternative Septic Systems: Senate Bill 1114 (Yaw-R-Lycoming) allowing the use of alternative on-lot septic systems on the sewage facility planning process (sponsor summary); and
-- Private Dam Financial Assurance: House Bill 1712 (R.Brown-R-Monroe) establishing a Private Dam Financial Assurance Program (House Fiscal Note and summary).
The bills now go to the Senate Floor for consideration.
