Sen. Yaw: Assistance Available For Chesapeake Leaseholders

In light of the recent lawsuit filed against Chesapeake Energy by the state Office of the Attorney General, Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming) Wednesday said his office will continue to assist local residents with inquiries related to the matter.
According to the OAG, leaseholders are encouraged to forward leases, addendums and royalty stubs directly to the OAG’s Antitrust Section, located on the 14th Floor Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA  17120 or call 717-787-4530.
Sen. Yaw also offered assistance in answering general questions and encouraged leaseholders to forward copies of their applicable leases and addendums, along with any records of payment to his office, which he will forward to the OAG on their behalf.
“To date, my office has recorded and sent over 50 leases to the Attorney General’s Office related to the Chesapeake dispute,” Sen. Yaw said.  “Residents who are seeking assistance can continue to reach out and forward related information to my office.”
Last week, the Office of Attorney General announced it has filed a lawsuit against Chesapeake Energy Corp., the country's second-largest producer of natural gas, and its affiliates amid allegations the companies underpaid landowners' royalties associated with natural gas drilling.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, seeks restitution for thousands of consumers, civil penalties and legal costs.  It was the result of an investigation by the Office of Attorney General's Antitrust Section and Bureau of Consumer Protection.
Inquiries and landowner lease information can be directed to: Sen. Gene Yaw, Senate Box 203023, State Capitol Building, Harrisburg, PA 17120, or call 717-787-3280.
