The Delaware Highlands Conservancy is pleased to announce it is applying for renewal of its accreditation under the Land Trust Accreditation Program and a public comment period is now open.
The Conservancy earned accreditation in 2011. The Program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever.
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs.
"For the landowners who choose to work with us to protect their cherished properties, the donors who invest in our mission, and the members of our community who trust us to operate ethically and with integrity, our accreditation provides transparency and peace of mind," stated Sue Currier, Executive Director of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy. "It means that we provide expert professional guidance and operate with the highest professional standards in the land trust community."
The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how the Delaware Highlands Conservancy complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust.
To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, visit the Land Trust Accreditation Commission website or email your comment to info@landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments may also be faxed or mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments: (fax) 518-587-3183; (mail) 112 Spring Street, Suite 204, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Comments on Delaware Highlands Conservancy’s application will be most useful by May 29, 2016.
