The Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee will hold an Environmental Issues Forum on October 19 and a hearing on natural gas-fueled vehicles on October 19.
The Environmental Issues Forum will feature a presentation by will feature Mr. Mont Handley from the Pittsburgh-based startup, PittMoss. PittMoss is an alternative to traditional peat moss, a plant fertilizer widely used among commercial growers, nurseries and home gardeners.
Using recycled newspaper and a secret blend of organic compounds, PittMoss helps preserve our planet's scarce peatlands, which store large amounts of carbon dioxide.
Handley's innovative product has caught the eyes of investors around the country, recently earning PittMoss a lucrative deal on ABC's hit show, Shark Tank.
The Forum will be held at noon in Room 8E-A-East Wing.
The October 29 hearing on the benefits of compressed natural gas and LNG vehicles will be held at the Ben Franklin TechCelerator, 453 Lincoln Street in Carlisle starting at 11:00.
Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango) serves as Chair of the Joint Conservation Committee.
