The Department of Environmental Protection will host a second public meeting regarding Keystone Sanitary Landfill’s permit application to expand its facility located in Dunmore and Throop Boroughs in Lackawanna County.
The event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. on June 15 at Mid-Valley High School, located at 52 Underwood Road, Throop. Representatives from both the department and Keystone will be on hand to answer questions from the public.
“Due to the significant public interest in this landfill expansion permit application, the Department is conducting a second public meeting to ensure there is ample opportunity for the public to ask questions, learn more about the proposed project and the permit application and review process,” DEP Northeast Regional Director Mike Bedrin said.
Keystone Sanitary Landfill filed an application with the department on March 20, 2014 to expand its 700-acre permitted garbage area by 435 total acres and to increase the facility’s disposal capacity by approximately 145 million cubic yards.
