Paddle Without Pollution in Pittsburgh Wednesday announced their watershed stewardship events for 2015.
This year’s schedule includes some perennial favorites such as Chartiers, Slippery Rock, and Ten Mile creeks, as well as Neville Island, Downtown Pittsburgh, and Presque Isle.
Project partners include Allegheny Land Trust, Jennings Environmental Education Center, and Ten Mile Creek Watershed Association.
The entire schedule can be viewed online.
On April 22, PWP will participate in the REI Earth Day Event on Pittsburgh’s South Side with Allegheny CleanWays and Friends of the Riverfront.
Kayakers, canoeists, and stand-up paddleboarders will remove litter and illegally dumped debris from the Monongahela River. All pre-registered volunteers will receive a free, limited edition REI Stewardship t-shirt.
On May 17, Paddle Without Pollution will partner with Venture Outdoors members for a cleanup of North Park Lake, coinciding with Friends of North Park’s Service Day. A potluck lunch will follow the event.
A limited number of kayaks and canoes are available to borrow for most events, or volunteers may bring their own. Early registration is suggested.
Visit Paddle Without Pollution’s Events webpage for more information and to register.
