Award winning photographs from the PA Parks and Forests Foundation’s Through the Seasons 2014 Photo Contest will be on display for one week at C.F. Martin & Co. (Martin Guitar), 510 Sycamore St., Nazareth.
The Gallery will be available starting at 10:00 a.m. December 8th until 10:00 a.m. December 12th. Martin Guitar is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Martin Guitar factory tours are 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Martin Guitar Holiday Open House is December 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The photo gallery features the award winning photographs from the PFPF 2014 photo contest, which received more than 400 entries. Photos include Amber Hebenthal’s, who won 1st Place in the “Kids in the Outdoors” for her photograph of a tent at night at Keystone State Park.
“My picture was inspired by my mom and son reading by flashlight in the tent, which made the tent glow,” Hebenthal says. “[What] I value most about the parks is a place for peaceful family time away.”
The PPFF contest included six categories: Appreciation of Beauty, Kids in the Outdoors, Outdoor Recreation, Dogs in the Outdoors, Volunteers in Action and a new division, Young Photographers. All photos had to be taken in a Pennsylvania state park or forest and judging was done by popular vote on Facebook and critics’ choice.
The winning photographs may be viewed at the Foundation’s Facebook page.
“The images we received this year are simply captivating. The pictures capture a moment in time—be it a bird in repose or the connection between child and parent or the play of light on water.” says PPFF President Marci Mowery. “We appreciate and enjoy all of photos entered in the contest and their celebration of our public lands.”
“We are honored to have the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Foundation’s photo gallery displayed in our facility” says Martin Director of Community Relations Cindy McAllister. “This display complements our recent partnership with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for a demonstration forest at the Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center.”
