Energy For Power Of 32 Unveils Energy Baseline, Plan For Western PA Dec. 11

A consortium of thought-leading organizations will present the “Energy for Power of 32” conference on December 11 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in downtown Pittsburgh.

This event will unveil the first ever regional energy baseline for western Pa., northern W. Va., northern Md., and eastern Ohio, and will launch a regional energy strategy.

This 32-county region is host to abundant energy resources, globally-leading expertise, and a willingness to collaborate to do things smarter than anyplace else. But when it comes to energy, we don’t yet have a plan for where we are going. Don’t miss this opportunity to be an influential part of an important effort to innovate our region’s brightest energy future.

A series of fast moving presentations will address energy issues and opportunities, followed by an all-attendee deliberation session to provide recommendations on regional energy values, principles, issues to be addressed and how best to design the regional energy plan. Featured speakers include:

— Mustafa Ali, Senior Advisor to the Administrator for Environmental Justice, U.S. EPA, "Policy Frameworks: Accounting for public health, climate change, and leveraging win-wins of energy innovation"

— Dr. Grace Bochenek, Director, National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), "Addressing 21st Century energy and environmental challenges and creating innovations that will benefit generations to come"

— Annie Gilleo, State Policy Research Analyst, The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), "Keeping Score on Energy Efficiency - a strategy to generate cost-savings, promote technological innovation, and stimulate growth"

— Greg Reed, Director of the Electric Power Initiative in the Swanson School of Engineering, University of Pittsburgh, "Grid stability - keeping the lights on as we move to a new distributed energy future"

This program is presented by 18 thought-leading organizations, including Sustainable Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Environmental Council, Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh, West Virginia University, the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, and Green Building Alliance.
