Friends Of The Wissahickon 90th Anniversary Forbidden 10K Race May 18

The Friends of the Wissahickon in Montgomery County is hosting a 10K race along Forbidden Drive in the northwest section of Philadelphia on May 18.
The 10K, 6.2-mile loop course begins at 9 a.m. and takes place in the Wissahickon Park, along Forbidden Drive and will pass by many historic points of interest including the Thomas Mill covered bridge, the Tedyuscung Indian statue and Valley Green Inn. The race is well-suited for both the serious runner and the occasional runner/walker.
There will be awards for male and female divisions as well as various age groups. Bryn Mawr Running Co. will be doing the chip timing for the race.
The cost of registration is $40 per entrant. After May 1, it is $50. Online registration is available.
Funds raised from the race will assist in the continued restoration and preservation of the historic Valley Green Inn and Wissahickon Park.
Race sponsors include Indigo Schuy, Larry Weaner Landscape Design, Ryan Painting, C.E. Hopkins Roofing, Wissahickon Tree and Landscape Services and Charles Uniatowski Photography.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. Contact Sarah Marley by sending email to: marley@fow.org or call 215-247-0717, ext. 109.
Join us after the race for a post-race clean-up. Working in partnership with Keep Philadelphia Beautiful and Clear Channel and Radio 104.5 FM, we will lead a community-wide clean up of the race site. To participate in the clean-up, meet at Northwestern Avenue and Forbidden Drive at 12 p.m.
Participants in the cleanup will be entered into a drawing for tickets to see Jack Johnson at his upcoming sold-out show at the Mann Center.  FOW will supply gloves, tools, and trash bags.  Register with Eric Falk by sending email to: falk@fow.org.
