Winners Of PRC Lens On Litter Contest Photo Contest, Accepting Entries For 2014

The PA Resources Council announced this week Cathy Bittinger won first place in the adult category for the 2013 Lens on Litter Photo Contest and Kelsey Schreck won first place in the student category.
The Lens On Litter  Contest is designed to help heighten awareness about litter and its threats to public health, safety, scenic beauty, property values and the environment.
The complete list of winners include—
Adult Category
-- First Place:  Cathy Bittinger, Pick of the Litter
-- Second Place: Andy Marinock, Drain Blocked, Take Alternate Route
-- Third Place: Laura Lind
-- People's Choice:  Wendy Williams, Shameful
The winner of the $1,000 First Place cash prize in the Adult Category was Cathy Bittinger  of  Reading.  Her photo titled “Pick of the Litter” depicts a collie with a smashed can of soda in his mouth.  
Andy Marinock of Harleigh was awarded the second place prize of  $500.  His photo, “Drain Blocked, Take Alternate Route” shows a storm drain with debris carried to the drain by storm water.
The judges awarded third place ($250) to Laura Lind of Pittsburg. Her photo shows a littered grass strip on the outside of a fenced in parking lot.  Wendy Williams of Shamokin won the People’s Choice Award of a digital camera.  “Shameful” is the title of Ms. William’s photo.   It shows a wooded area with piles of discarded business reports.
Student Category
-- First Place:  Kelsey Schreck, Our Beautiful Pennsylvania
-- Second Place:  Billy McKeown , Litter Doesn't Belong On Our Turf
-- Third Place: Anthony Sidari,  Dumping Is Rugged on the Environment
-- People's Choice: Maxwell Talarigo, The Island of Misfit Toys
In the Student Category, the winner of the $1,000 First Place cash prize was Kelsey Schreck of Milton.  Kelsey is a sophomore at Milton Area High School.  Her photo, “Our Beautiful Pennsylvania”, shows a roadside sign “Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful” surrounded by a litter dump of cans, bottles and paper.  
The judges awarded the second place prize of $500 to 16 year old Billy McKeown of Newtown Square, The title  of the photo is “Litter Doesn’t Belong On Our Turf “ depicts plastic bottles of water discarded on an athletic field.  
The third place prize, $500, was won by Anthony Sidari, a 16 year old student at Hazleton High School.  His photo “Dumping Is Rugged on the Environment” shows the dumping of discarded household items such as rugs, a TV cabinet, etc.  
The winner of the People’s Choice  prize of a digital camera was Maxwell Talarigo, an eight year-old from Wynnewood,   Maxwell’s photo, The Island of Misfit Toys,” shows a pile of old discarded toys.
