Public Invited To Virtual Cumberland County Water Resources Forum May 19

Cumberland Conservation Collaborative and other partners will host a virtual Cumberland County Water Resources Forum on May 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

This event is for anyone who wants to learn how county and municipal governments and others are working to protect Cumberland County’s shared water resources.  

A wide mix of speakers will discuss how clean water benefits residents and businesses, ongoing efforts to protect public drinking water, and key programs keeping pollution out of local streams including the recently approved Countywide Action Plan.   

Case studies from Berks County and Marysville Borough will highlight the ways communities outside Cumberland County are protecting their water.  

Capping the evening, staff from Cumberland County will highlight key programs that help keep pollutants out of local streams, including the recently approved Countywide Action Plan which is part of Pennsylvania’s overall Chesapeake Bay improvement effort, and review model guidance for local ordinance development.

-- Erin Letavic, Hebert, Rowland and Grubic, Inc.

-- Lori Glace, Cumberland County Conservation District

-- Elizabeth Grant, Cumberland County Planning Department

The main sponsor for this event is the Cumberland Conservation Collaborative with assistance from Penn State Extension, Cumberland County, Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation, South Mountain Partnership, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Pennsylvania American Water, Susquehanna River Basin Commission.
