The Board of Directors of the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership Tuesday announced Gail R. Kulp, CAE has been named the new Executive Director, effective January 9.
Kulp succeeds, Trish Carothers, who will be moving into a new role within the organization focused on the River Town’s Program and Project Development.
As the new executive director, Kulp will oversee the staff and work with the Board of Directors to develop a new strategic plan to guide SGP in its second decade of work.
She will liaison with local, county, state and federal officials and agencies, as well as other partner organizations on developing a 500-mile greenway of land and water trails throughout Pennsylvania and will be setting program and project development goals and priorities to make this a reality.
“I am eager to continue SGP’s important work of building trails and revitalizing River Towns throughout the Susquehanna Greenway region,” Kulp notes.
With 12 years of nonprofit leadership experience, including extensive experience in grant writing and grant project management, Kulp’s background uniquely positions her to assume this post.
Most recently, Kulp served as Branch Executive Director for the Eastern Lycoming YMCA in Muncy, PA.
She previously served as the Executive Director for the Sea Tow Foundation from 2010-2015 and served as the director of education and standards for the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators from 2005-2010.
Kulp also spent five years as a public school teacher in grades five through seven in both Virginia and Kentucky.
Kulp received a dual degree in elementary education and history from Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD, and a master’s degree in educational policy, planning and leadership from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA.
She earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives in 2012. Kulp lives in Montoursville with her husband, Chris. They own a rescue dog named Rosie and enjoy taking long walks with her.
