UGI, Columbia Gas, PPL, Duquesne Named Environmental Champions In Utility Survey

UGI Utilities, Inc. was among 36 utility companies nationwide that were named “Environmental Champions” in a recent study by Cogent Reports, a division of Market Strategies International.
Also named as Environmental Champions were Columbia Gas-East and for electric systems PPL Electric Utilities and Duquesne Light.
“These Environmental Champions are setting an example for peers in the industry on environmental dedication,” Chris Oberle, senior vice president at Market Strategies, said. “This designation reflects a commitment to prioritizing environmental initiatives and serves as a reward from their customers for doing so.”
The Cogent Reports Residential Utility Trusted Brand and Customer Engagement study measures such company attributes as reputation and advocacy, customer focus, community support, communication effectiveness, environmental dedication and reliable quality.
The Environmental Champions status was determined based on Environmental Dedication scores that reflect the extent consumers believe companies are supporting environmental causes, are committed to environmentally friendly energy sources, are encouraging green initiatives, and are offering tools to help customers save energy.
“UGI is very pleased to be among the 2015 Environmental Champions,” Robert Beard, president and CEO of UGI Utilities, Inc., added. “Natural gas is both a clean and efficient fuel, and UGI has a number of innovative programs designed to expand the use of natural gas and help our customers in both our natural gas and electric service area become more energy efficient.”
Cogent Reports surveyed more than 25,000 residential electric, natural gas and combination utility customers of the 125 largest U.S. companies.
