“The choices that we, as individuals make to both recycle and buy recycled products is what drives the success of recycling in Pennsylvania. By choosing to recycle, we are giving something once thought as garbage, whether it be a steel can or a plastic bottle, a new life,” states Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.
KPB Affiliates all across the state host community seasonal recycling events where residents can properly dispose of and recycle everything from tires and appliances to electronics. Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and its affiliates have recycled 5,297,326 pounds of scrap metal and 735,499 tires since their inception in 1990.

With Keep America Beautiful’s support, thousands of organizations, schools, colleges and universities, businesses, and government entities get involved in educating residents about recycling resources in their communities through collection drives, demonstrations, competitions, tours, displays and other special events. This year’s America Recycles Day theme, “I Want To Be Recycled,” helps to educate people about the importance of recycling to our economy and environmental well-being and helps to motivate occasional recyclers to become everyday recyclers.
